GreenForest L-Shaped Desk, Product Overview
I was recently in the market for a new gaming desk but didn’t want to spend too much. I found several great models in my search, by ultimately landed on the GreenForest L-Shaped Corner desk. There were some decent reviews on Amazon, and one review in particular helped seal the deal.
When I was unpacking the desk I was a bit concerned that I might end up being disappointed with my purchase, however once I got it all together I was extremely pleased with the size and shape.
It fits perfectly right where I need it and I am going to walk you through the other aspects of this desk that I like.
It’s Under $100, but I Wouldn’t Call it Cheap
As I was unboxing it I immediately didn’t like that it was particle board but I’m also not really sure what I had expected. The good news is that it’s well laminated, unlike certain cheap furniture products that you might find at a Wal-Mart.
The laminate is water-proof, so spills won’t soak into the wood (but don’t be spilling near your PC now, that’s a sin).
The steel they use on the legs is light-weight but durable, with a nice epoxy coating. They call it “high quality” in their product description, but I’m not sure how that determination is made.
The feet are adjustable so that you can level it fairly easy if your floor isn’t quite level, and they are coated so that they won’t hurt your hardwood floor if you’re not setting it up on carpeting.
It works great, and holds the weight, so I’ll give it an “A” rating.
Setting it Up is Easy
From start to finish I was able to build this desk in just over 30 minutes. It comes packed in some cheap styrofoam, so I don’t recommend unpacking it in your house if you can avoid it, and it helps to wipe off the components before you bring each of them in.
It went together super easy with my 20v drill, though you’ll want to turn the drill setting down to about one to five so that you don’t over-tighten anything.
If you know how to build furniture like this, then you already know not to completely tighten everything until you have it all together. Keep the bolts mostly screwed in, but loose. It comes together nicely in the end.
A nice benefit of this desk is that you are able to put the short side of the “L” on either side, making it versatile for any corner you have room for it in.
What’s Better Than One L-Shaped Desk?
Two, of course! If you have the space for it, this can make a nice gaming center for two people (gamer couples, anyone?). You just need to build each desk in the opposite configuration and then push them together. Pretty sweet.
It’s Official, this Desk is Great!
I am really happy with this desk overall. It made my home office feel much more…homey. I put my gaming rig under the desk on a little stand that I built, but as you can see in the previous image showing the two pushed together, it looks great with your rig up top as well.
I highly recommend a floating monitor mount that clamps to the side of the desk, especially if you have dual monitors. The one I went with was 29.99 USD, but there are plenty of options out there.
The mount keeps the monitors up off the desk, making it feel even better with more available space, and the desk takes the weight just fine though I imagine if you have heavier monitors you’ll want to research this closely.
The desk goes together pretty fast, and is sturdy in the end once everything is tightened up. For the price, this was absolutely perfect for my needs, and should be for many gamers out there.
That said, if you’re looking for a heavy-duty, “real” desk, then this may not be for you and definitely plan to spend more than $100, probably even more than $200 (or more) to find a high-quality solid wood desk.
I hope you enjoyed my review of the GreenForest L-Shaped Computer Desk. If you have any questions or want to provide your own personal review then please feel free to leave a comment below.
